Oh My Goodness! Please try this! My son loves it, and so does hubby!

Apple Bake

2 large baking apples, peeled and cored
3 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup quick rolled oats
1/4 to 1/2 cup firmly-packed brown sugar
Ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Slice apples into thick slices.
In your cast-iron skillet (I like to use my 10-inch cast-iron skillet) or baking pan, either in your oven or on your stovetop, melt butter. Layers apple slices on top of the melted butter. Sprinkle with rolled oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
Baked for approximately 20 to 30 minutes or until apples are tender when poked with a knife. Remove and oven. Either serve warm or at room temperature.
Makes 2 servings.

Kid Sized Pizzas Recipe

Ingredients:

4 English muffins, split
3/4 cup pizza sauce
1/4 pound Canadian Bacon
6 large mushrooms, sliced
4 large black olives, sliced
1 small onion, sliced
1/2 medium green pepper, sliced
1/4 pound mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/3 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Directions:
On each muffin half, spread 2 tablespoons pizza sauce. Top each with one-eighth of the Canadian bacon, mushrooms, olives, onion and green pepper. Sprinkle each with mozzarella and parmesan cheese, dividing equally. Place on nonstick baking sheet. Bake at 350F for 10 to 15 minutes or until cheese melts and begins to brown. Serve hot.

Teething

Kam is teething again. She had two more nubs this weekend, then they finally broke through on Saturday. Oh, holy moly! Talk about a BEAR!! I hauled rear out to the store to get her some aid to help ease her pain. I remembered using Hyland's teething tablets with Tucker and I knew right away that I wanted to use these with Kam. I love them!! She is 10 months old and has the mouth to chew a steak! Its amazing how happy she was once she had these!

I have always been a 'smart shopper', so in the past, my idea of smart shopping is buying the better deal, right? I have normally bought the cheaper diapers for my babies, but in the end, have always paid a bigger price because of the leaks, the harshness of the diapers and just the whole frustration of the 'cheap' guys. I ventured out this weekend and bought Pampers Cruisers. I saw these with my son, 2 years ago, but I never tried them. There are several strong reasons to carve out a playroom in your home, and they have to do with the nature of kids.

If you live in a climate that allows comfortable outdoor play year-round, a dedicated playroom may not be necessary. Many of us, however, endure long months of cold, and it's a challenge to give kids the opportunities they crave for active play on a daily basis. Here's where a "real" playroom can make a real difference. If you don't want to live with everything laminate for 20 years or have your nice furnishings at risk all the time, a playroom can really help keep the peace.Where to find space? Even if it's in the basement, today's playroom differs from the old 1950s recreation room in that it's much brighter and lighter. If a basement is your best bet, paint that old brown wood paneling a warm white, and put down a vinyl or porcelain tile floor.
Install ample ceiling light fixtures for the size of your room (don't skimp) and use the latest advances in bulbs that mimic natural daylight. To get the benefit of real sunlight, a room over the garage is a smart alternative, as is the "bonus room" found in many of today's big new houses.

Wherever you locate the playroom, you'll want lighting that's protected from the occasional football toss; easy-care flooring; and comfortable, movable, easy-to-clean furnishings. Plan different zones with wipe-clean flooring for messy play and softer floor coverings for active play and lounging around.
Beanbag chairs and sectionals with washable slipcovers increase the comfort level; indulge in cheerful colors kids love. A workstation or desk with an ergonomic chair can extend the playroom's use for homework, but, even if you only need play surfaces, make sure all corners and edges are rounded for safety.

Ink Stain Removal

I have to share a new thing that I learned. Honestly, I cannot remember where I saw this at, but with all the mommy readers that I have out there, I have to post this on to you all!

My husband recently did a load of laundry (#1: Big no-no!) and he had an ink pen in his pocket (#2: Again... Big no-no!). Well, once I saw the ink stains all over our WHITE clothes, I was furious and in the mad stage of breaking down in to tears. My clothes had gone through an entire wash AND through the dryer - high heat. Nice. I was sad. Did I mention that I was sad?

I had read about milk getting ink out, but didn't believe it. I put out a large bowl and filled it with milk. Since most of the items that I really cared about were Kambry's small jumpers or sleepers and a blanket that I was ga-ga over, I immersed each item in the bowl of milk, let soak for about 30-45 minutes and when I took the item out of the milk, the stain was GONE! Shocked is an understatement of how I felt!

Carpet stain removal

This tip's been in the forefront of my mind all day, since I found some stains my cat made ... under a chair in the living room, weeks or possibly days after the fact. *sigh* We have the rather boring, beige-ish carpet that comes in many apartments. And, with two cats and two people in the place, things get spilled on, thrown at, or ground into the carpeting. In most cases, this will work:* Cover the stain with a visible (but light) layer of baking soda* Pour just enough vinegar on the spot to bubble away the baking soda* Blot/rub at the spot for a few moments* Cover the area with a towel or other piece of cloth* Stand on the towel/cloth until you've soaked up as much liquid as possible* Cover the area with something clean until dry (if you don't, you'll get a different stain there if anyone walks over it while it's still wet).As far as my experience goes, this works really well. The only disclaimer is that we've (thankfully) yet to spill anything truly brightly colored on the carpet.

Ingredients:
12 crackers
Deli meat slices
Deli cheese slices
Optional: honey mustard, peanut butter, jellies, pizza sauce, get creative
Preparation:Use regular lunch meat slices and quarter. These do not need to be heated and the kids love building them and eating them. Serve with a piece of fruit.

Combos: Ham, swiss cheese, & honey or spicy mustard.Pepperoni, motzerlla cheese, & spaghetti sauce(meatless).Mix cream cheese with ranch dressing, serve with salami.

I recently cut up my MasterCard and called to make sure all payments were clear and that the account was clear and I told the gentleman that I wanted to cancel my account. He asks for all my information, I give it to him and he says "Wow. You are a very valued customer.. How about we waive the yearly fee (which this 'fee' just recently seemed to just pop out of thin air for some reason) to keep you as a customer?" My reply: "No thank you. My scissors ate the card yesterday." I could hear the man laughing under his breath. We do still have one MasterCard that we will hang on to for emergencies only, so what is the point of having two? Feels so weird to have zero balances! Awesome feeling, but a weird one!

DVD Combos

Its hard to find a cheaper DVD/TV combo that is cheap. Well, cheap price! I finally found a 13 inch DVD TV combo that was only $129! WooHoo! Wal-Mart! I just wanted something small to put in my kids' playroom, on the mount, for watching their Disney DVD's. I cant wait to get it and get rid of this clunky DVD player and old TV!

I made an excel spreadsheet that has all of 2008 budgeted. Well, I conquered something that technically wasn't supposed to happen until June (scheduled). We got ALL debt paid off ahead of schedule! All credit cards are zero balances! This is a huge sigh of relief and feel so good! The 6 cards that e have ranged in balances from $250-$1200 and *poof* all are gone! Now, all paychecks that we have go towards the regular recurring accounts like our vehicles and rent, so that is awesome!
